In the arid West, water is key to the survival of everything. In recent years, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has been partnering with ranchers in Owyhee County to create more ponds and wetlands on private lands to benefit a multitude of wildlife species and livestock.

The ponds also help store water in the watersheds and sustain creek flows for a longer period of time in the spring and summer months.
